Ceolchoirm do Mhúinteoir Nóra: Chuir múinteoirí agus daltaí ó gach rang sa scoil coirmcheoil den scoth ar siúl sa halla pobail ar an 10ú Márta 2014, chun ceiliúradh a dhéanamh ar obair Mhúinteoir Nóra sa scoil. Bhí an halla maisithe go hálainn le healaíon ó na ranganna go léir agus dathanna Dhún na nGall le feiceáil mórthimpeall na háite. Bhí amhráin bhreátha agus ceol binn le clos agus cuireadh sceitse ‘Labhraí Loingseach’ i láthair freisin. Stiúraigh Amy Ryan, an múinteoir amhránaíochta sa scoil, Cór na Sóisear agus iad ag canadh ‘A Nóra Bheag’ agus Cór na Sinsear ag canadh ‘Gleanntáin Ghlas Ghaoth Dobhair.’ B’álainn an radharc é breis agus céad dalta a fheiceáil i ngach cór. Sheinn Rob O Connor, an múinteoir bodhráin, an fheadóg mhór agus é ag tionlacan ranganna éagsúla a thug taispeántas dúinn ar na bodhráin. Bhí gach aon rang go hiontach ar an lá agus d’fhéach na Naíonáin go hálainn gléasta mar leipreacháin. Ba é an ceolchoirm is fearr dá bhfaca mise riamh i Scoil Chrónáin, a bhuíochas sin d’fhoireann uile na scoile. Rinne An Bord Bainistíochta, Foireann na Scoile & Le Chéile bronnadh ar Nóra agus bhí sí fíorbhuíoch de gach duine. Guímid saol fada sláintiúil sona uirthi agus í ar scor.

Leasphríomhoide Nua: Is í Roisín Ní Shéaghdha an leasphríomhoide nua i Scoil Chrónáin. Tréaslaímid léi agus guímid gach aon rath uirthi agus í ag obair ar son daltaí na scoile. Buíochas le Múinteoir Ailín a bhí ag feidhmiú nuair a bhí Nóra tinn.

Lá na Gaeilge: D’fhéach na daltaí go hálainn ar an 13ú Márta agus iad gléasta in éadaí glasa. D’eagraigh Máistir Colm agus Máistir Máirtín an Tráth na gCeist i mbliana agus bhí Múinteoir Ailín a i bhfeighil na rincí. Bhí ról ag gach aon mhúinteoir, cúntóir riachtanais speisialta agus cúntóir ranga i ngníomhaíochtaí an lae agus tá ard-mholadh tuillte acu. An-lá a bhí ann.

Céilí: D’eagraigh Le Chéile agus Foireann Scoil Chrónáin céilí an-taitneamhach ar an Aoine an 20ú Márta 2015 i gClub na dTráchtálaithe. Bhí mórán oibre déanta ag na múinteoirí sa scoil ag múineadh na rincí éagsúla do na daltaí agus bhí toradh a gcuid oibre le feiceáil ar an oíche. Ba léir gur bhain na daltaí an-sult as an oíche agus táimid buíoch de gach aon duine a chabhraigh in aon tslí, go háirithe Lorraine (Bean an tí) banna ceoil Mhuintir Seoighe agus na tuismitheoirí ar fad.

Iníon Óg: Comhgháirdeas le Múinteoir Vanessa agus le Stephen gur saolaíodh iníon dóibh an tseachtain seo. Guímid gach aon rath orthu.

Féinmheastóireacht Scoile: Tá an-bhéim á cur againn i mbliana ar an nGaeilge labhartha ar fud na scoile. Tá cumas na bpáistí ag feabhsú de réir a chéile agus is breá an rud é an Ghaeilge a chlos á labhairt go líofa nadúrtha ar fud na scoile. Is mian linn forbairt bhreise a dhéanamh anois agus cruinneas teanga a chothú iontu freisin. An sprioc atá againn ná go mbeadh Gaeilge líofa chruinn ag na daltaí faoi Rang 6 agus iad bródúil as an nGaeilge a labhairt. Tá ról an-tábhachtach agaibhse, a thuismitheoirí chun bhur bpáistí a spreagadh chun an Ghaeilge a labhairt agus iarraimid oraibh a iarrachtaí na bpáistí a mholadh. Táimid fíorbhuíoch díbh as an tacaíocht leanúnach a thugann sibh dúinn. I dteannta a chéile ’sea is treise sin.

Naíonáin Bheaga 2015-16:

Beidh suas le seasca Naíonán ag tosnú scoile linn i mbliana. Táimid ag súil iad a roinnt i dtrí rang ach braithfidh sin ar uimhreacha sa scoil i Mí Mheán Fómhair. Beidh lá oscailte againn dóibh sa scoil sa triú téarma.

Nuacht ó Rang a hAon: Bhaineamar an-sásamh as na ranganna bodhráin le Múinteoir Rob. D’fhoghlaimíomar conas an cipín a úsáid agus bhíomar ábalta dhá phort a sheinm don gceolchoirm do Mhúinteoir Nóra. Táimid ag obair go dian faoi láthair ag ullmhú ealaíon na Cásca.

School Concert for Múinteoir Nóra: An excellent concert took place in the Community Centre on the 10th March in honour of Múinteoir Nóra, who has recently retired. The hall was nicely decorated in the Donegal colours and classes had made many colourful banners for the occasion. Wonderful songs were sung, lively music was played and a sketch of ‘Labhraí Loingseach’ was performed. Múinteoir Amy , our choral teacher, conducted the Junior choir who sang ‘A Nóra Bheag’ and the senior choir who sang ‘Gleanntán Glas Ghaoith Dobhair.’ It was sight to behold – well over 100 children in each choir, singing in tune. Rob O Connor, who teaches bodhrán and percussion in the school, played the flute as children from various classes showed us the progress that they have made during the year in his bodhrán class . Every class was excellent and the Naíonáin looked really cute in their Leprechaun outfits. I feel that thie concert was the best that I have ever attended in Scoil Chrónáin and the teachers and children should be very proud of themselves. Presentations were made by the BOM, School Staff and Le Chéile and Nóra thanked all involved.

New Deputy Principal: Róisín Ní Shéaghdha is the new deputy principal in Scoil Chrónáin. We wish her the very best of luck as she works on behalf of the children in the school. Thank you to Múinteoir Ailín who was acting deputy principal while Nóra was on sick leave.

Lá na Gaeilge: The pupils looked amazing, all dressed in green on the 13th March. Máistir Colm and Máistir Máirtín organised the Quiz this year and Múinteoir Ailín was in charge of the dancing. Every teacher, special needs assistant and classroom assistant played a part in the day’s activities and they deserve praise as a result of how wonderful it was.

Céilí: Le Chéile and the Staff of Scoil Chrónáin organised a very enjoyable céilí on the 20th March 2015 in Commercials. The school teachers had done a lot of work teaching the dances to the pupils. You could see the result of their work on the night as the pupils were fantastic. It was obvious that the pupils really enjoyed the night and we are extremely grateful to everyone who helped on the night and in the lead up to the night. We are especially grateful to Lorraine (Bean an tí), the band Mhuintir Seoighe and all the parents.

Iníon Óg: Congratulations to Múinteoir Vanessa and to Stephen on the birth of their daughter who was born this week. We wish them all the best.

School Self-Assessment: We are focusing this year on the spoken Irish in the school. The children’s ability is improving and it is lovely to hear Irish being spoken fluently throughout the school. We now hope to improve the children’s accuracy. Our aim is that the children will be able to speak fluent and correct Irish by the time that they are in sixth class and are happy and proud to do so. As parents you have an important role to play here. We ask you to encourage your children to speak Irish and to praise their efforts. We thank you for your continuous support in this matter. Unity is strength.

Naíonáin Bheaga 2015-2016: We will have up to sixty Naíonáin Bheaga next school year. We are hoping to divide them into three classes but this will depend on school enrolment in September. We will have an open day for the children next term.

News from Rang 1: We really enjoyed the bodhrán classes this term. We learned how to use the stick correctly and we played two tunes at Nóra’s concert. We are currently working very hard on our art work for Easter. See picture below
