Múinteoir Áine:
Tá Múinteoir Áine Ní Loinsigh éirithe as an múinteoireacht ón 29 Feabhra 2012. Chaith Áine naoi mbliana ag obair i Scoil Chrónain mar mhúinteoir Tacaíochta Foghlama / Acmhainne. Bhí an-spéis aici i Múineadh Teanga agus san Oideachas Speisialta agus bhain na daltaí a bhí faoina cúram taitneamh agus tairbhe as freastal ar a ranganna. Bhí suim mhór aici sa cheol freisin agus roinn sí a talann go fial le Cór na Scoile. Bean ildána is ea í agus táimid fíorbhuíoch di as a cuid oibre anseo. Guímis saol fada, sona, faoi dhea-shláinte uirthi agus go raibh deis aici cuid mhór eile den domhan a shiúl. cuid mhór eile den domhan a shiúl.

An Brat Glas:
Tá ‘Brat Glas’ gnóthaithe ag an scoil maidir le bainistiú bruscair de. Rinne Múinteoir Clár agus a Coiste Glas a lán oibre ar an tionscnamh agus molaimid go mór iad. Míle buíochas leis na múinteoirí eile freisin agus le daltaí uile na scoile as comhoibriú leis an gCoiste. Tá súil againn go rachaidh An Coiste Glas ó neart go neart. Beidh ceiliúradh againn sa scoil nuair a thiocfaidh an brat.

Dearbháin TESCO:
Más rud é go ndéanann tú (nó do mhuintir) siopadóireacht i Tesco, bheimis buíoch ach
na dearbháin do scoileanna a bhailiú dúinn. Tá bosca i halla na scoile dóibh. Anuraidh fuaireamar Bosca Garchabhair Spóirt astu agus Áiseanna don Bhéarla, don Mhatamaitic agus don Tacaíocht Foghlama.

Eolaí Óg / Irish Aid /Spelling Bee:

Bhí Múinteoir Róisín, Múinteoir Fionnghuala agus Rang 5 & 6 páirteach i mórán tionscnamh an téarma seo. Bhain siad taitneamh agus tairbhe as Eolaí Óg agus as Irish Aid, áit ar bhain siad gradam amach.
Is í Aibí Nic an Ultaigh (Rang 6) a bhuaigh an comórtas scoile ‘Spelling Bee’. Ghlac sí páirt sa Chomórtas Ceantair ar an 8 Márta agus chríochnaigh sí sa chéad deichniúr as daichead iomaitheoir. Mo cheol sibh!

Seachtain na Gaeilge:

Coirmeacha Ceoil: Chuir daltaí ó gach rang sa scoil dhá choirm ceoil ar siúl i mBanc na hÉireann, Ráth Cúil ar an 9ú agus ar an 23ú Márta , mar chuid de Sheachtain na Gaeilge. Bhain an pobal an-taitneamh astu. Míle buíochas leis na múinteoirí ar fad a mhúin amhráin agus dánta dóibh, le Múinteoir Nóirín a stiúraigh iad, leis na tuismitheoirí a chuir gúnaí rince ar fáil agus le Stephane Petiet (Rang 6) a sheinn do na damhsóirí.

Céilí  / Oíche Chultúrtha
:

Bhí an-oíche ag gach duine ag an gCéilí / Oíche Chultúrtha, san ionad Pobail, Dé hAoine, 9 Márta. Bhí an halla maisithe go hálainn ag Le Chéile agus chuir obair ealaíne na ndaltaí go mór leis an ócáid. Bhí Lorraine Ní Bhroin ar fheabhas mar Bhean an Tí agus chuir Charlotte agus Dáithí Seoighe ceol den scoth ar fáil. Rinne Debbie Strumble agus Coiste Le Chéile sár-obair mar is gnáth. Buíochas le gach tuismitheoir, múinteoir, iar-scoláire, dalta a chabhraigh in aon tslí.

Comórtas na Gaeilge
:

Bhuaigh Rang 2 Comórtas na Gaeilge sa chéad téarma. Tugadh ar thuras scoile saor in aisce iad ar an 1 Márta. Comhgháirdeas leo agus le Máistir Diarmuid. Tá comórtas eile ar siúl anois agus cuirfear turas scoile ar fáil ag deireadh na bliana don rang is fearr.
Cé go bhfuil feabhas ar labhairt na Gaeilge go ginearálta ní mór feabhas breise a theacht air. Tá páistí áirithe ar fheabhas ach tá roinnt eile a ligeann síos a rang agus tá siad féin ag cailliúint amach leis mar ní thagann feabhas ar chumas teanga gan í a labhairt. Mar sin iarraimid ar thuismitheoirí a bpáiste a spreagadh chun an Ghaeilge a labhairt i gcónaí ar scoil. Sa tslí sin beidh leibhéal ard dhátheangachas acu faoi Rang 6.

Iománaíocht / Camógaíocht:
D’éirigh le foireann iománaíochta na scoile (f.13 – buachaillí agus cailíní) dul chomh fada leis an gCeathrú-chraobh i mbliana. Míle buíochas le Múinteoir Colm, Tom O Mahony, Múinteoir Róisín agus Múinteoir Fionnghuala a thacaigh leis an bhfoireann. Beidh Foireann faoi 11 ag imirt sna ‘Go Games’ an téarma seo chugainn. Guímid gach rath orthu.
Tosóidh Traenáil Chamógaíochta i ndiaidh na Cásca. Beidh Deirdre Dungan, Tom ó Mahony agus Múinteoir Doireann i gceannas.

Foirgneamh Nua:
Tá an foirgneamh nua ag féachaint go hálainn. Bhí orainn caidéal níos láidre a chur isteach sa scoil chun freastal air.  Measaimid go bhfuil rudaí réitithe anois. Beidh Rang 5 agus na daltaí a fhreastalaíonn ar Thacaíocht foghlama ag bogadh isteach ann.

Córas Slándála:
Cuireadh isteach doirse nua ar chúl na scoile agus cuireadh soilse breise agus ceamaraí CCTV mórthimpeall an chlóis, mar chuid d’ár bplean chun córas slándála na scoile a fheabhsú. Tá sé i gceist plandaí breise a chur sa chlós leis. Táimid buíoch don Bhord Bainistíochta as a gcuid oibre ar fad.

Comórtas Damhsa an Domhain:
Beidh cúigear cailíní ag damhsa i gcomórtas an Domhain i mBéal Feirste i rith na Cásca. Go n-éirí go geal le Lára Ní Cheallaigh, Caoimhe Ní Éalaithe, Ciara Ní Chlochasaigh, Póilín Ní Mhaidín agus Sorcha Ní Icí.

Múinteoir Áine:
Múinteoir Áine retired on the 29thFebruary 2012. She had been the Learning Support / Resource Teacher in Scoil Chrónáin for nine years. She was very experienced in this field and she had a special interest in Linguistics. The children in her care enjoyed attending her classes and benefitted from her expertise. Áine loved music and she willingly shared her talent with the school choir. She is a lady of many talents and we are grateful to her for the work she did here. We wish her a long, happy and healthy retirement and hope that she will get many opportunities to travel all over the world.

Green Flag:
Scoil Chrónáin has been awarded a Green Flag for Waste Management. Congratulations to Múinteoir Clár and to the members of her Green Committee who worked so diligently on the project. A special ‘Thank you’ to all the teachers and pupils in the school for their continuous co-operation. We hope to have a little celebration in school when the green flag is presented.

TESCO Vouchers:
If you or your family shop in Tesco we would be grateful if you would collect the tokens for
schools and send them in to us. There is a box for them in the hall. Last year we used the vouchers to get a special Sports First Aid Kit, English Reading Kits and numbers and letters for Learning Support. Reading Kits and numbers and letters for Learning Support.

Eolaí Óg / Irish Aid /Spelling Bee:
Múinteoir Róisín, Múinteoir Fionnghuala and their classes, (Rang a 6 and Rang a 5) participated in various projects this term. The children enjoyed and benefitted from the Young Scientist Exhibition and the Irish Aid Project, where they were awarded a special prize.
Aibí Nic an Ultaigh (Rang 6) won the school ‘Spelling Bee.’ She represented the school in the Central Competition on Thursday, 8th March and she finished in the first ten of forty competitors.
Well done to all involved! Well done to all involved! Well done to all involved! Well done to all involved!

Seachtain na Gaeilge:
Concerts:  Pupils representing all the classes in Scoil Chrónáin put on two short concerts in Bank of Ireland, Rathcoole  on the 9th and 23rd March as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge. Members of the public enjoyed the concerts immensely. Many thanks to all the teachers who taught songs and poems for the occasion:to Múinteoir Nóirín who directed them: to the parents who supplied dancing costumes and to Stephane (Rang 6) who played for the dancers.

Céilí / Oíche Chultúrtha:
A great night was had by all at the Céilí / Irish Culture Night in the Community Centre on Friday, 9th March.  Le Chéile decorated the Hall beautifully and artwork made by the students
contributed greatly to the occasion.  Lorraine Ní Bhroin was brilliant as Bean an Tí and David & Charlotte Joyce played some lovely music. Debbie Strumble and Coiste le Chéile did excellent work as usual.  Our thanks to every parent, teacher, pupil, past pupil who helped in any way.

Comórtas na Gaeilge:
Rang a 2 won Comórtas na Gaeilge in the first term. They were brought on a school outing on the 1st March.  Congratulations to the children and to Máistir Diarmuid. Another competition is now taking place and a school tour will be awarded, once more, to the best class.  Although there is an improvement in the speaking of Irish generally, there must be a greater improvement still.  Some children are excellent but there are others who are letting their class down. They are also losing out themselves, as one’s speaking ability does not improve without using the language. We ask all parents, therefore, to encourage their children to speak Irish in school at all times. In this way, they will achieve a high standard of bi-lingual proficiency by Sixth Class. will achieve a high standard of bi-lingual proficiency by Sixth Class.

Hurling/Camogie:
The school hurling team (u.13 – boys and girls) succeeded in getting to the quarter finals this year.  Many thanks to Máistir Colm, Tom Ó Mahony, Múinteoir Róisín and Múinteoir Fionnghuala who helped with the team.
The u.11 team will be playing in the ‘Go Games’ next term.  We wish them every success in the league.
Camogie training will begin after Easter.  Deirdre Dungan, Tom Ó Mahony and Múinteoir Doireann will be in charge. Camogie training will begin after Easter.  Deirdre Dungan, Tom Ó Mahony and Múinteoir Doireann will be in charge.

New Building:
The new building is looking lovely.  We had to fit a stronger heating pump in order to cover the extra area, hence the delay in moving in.  We believe the installation is now completed satisfactorily.  Rang a 5 and the children, who attend Learning Support, move in this week.

Security System:
New back doors have been installed in the back of the school. New security lights and cameras with CCTV are now located around the school also as part of the upgrading of the school security system.  New planting will be carried out shortly. We are grateful to the Board of Management for all their work.

World Dancing Competition:
Five girls will compete in the world dancing competition in Belfast during the Easter break.  Best of luck to Lára Ní Cheallaigh, Caoimhe Ní Éalaithe, Ciara Ní Chlochasaigh, Póilín Ní Mhaidín and Sorcha Ní Icí.
